A Week of Extremes

This past week has been a week of extremes. It was extremely relaxing the first part of the week:  Sleeping in, reading, shopping, visiting with friends, naps, swimming and a movie.  It was fabulous. We needed some downtime.

By Thursday, it was back to work. We got into our new house and worked all weekend to get it cleaned and ready for our moving truck to arrive on Monday. My mom flew in Thursday evening, so she has been helping us. (Which has been fantastic!!)

I am a clean freak and, no offense, but I don't like other peoples dirt. I can handle my own, but several years of someone else's....ugh.   It can be quite icky. I mean, we all have things that we don't clean very often, heck we probably don't even think about it. But when the house is vacant, everything stands out. Thank goodness for Mr. Clean and rubber gloves.

My mom and I spent the weekend cleaning 5 bathrooms (yes, 5! Yikes!) the entire kitchen, baseboards, blinds, shelves, trim work etc.

One thing that is always hard for me when I move is when a house doesn't smell like "ourhouse". Really, to me it just doesn't have a smell. Right now this house doesn't smell like our house. I even bought some throwaway cookie sheets and some break and bake cookie dough so I could make it smell a little bit more like us. As we clean, I notice the smell changing. I know one day, I'll walk in and I won't even notice a smell. And eventually it will hit me, "hey, it smells like our house now!"

Tonight, Frank and I left the house (finally) at 11:30. I have to come back early tomorrow for when the movers come. Before we left, we walked through the house and put sticky notes on he walls we want furniture to go. It helps the movers and us when there is so much chaos going on to have it planned out. I also went though and put sticky notes on cupboards and drawers in the kitchen of where I want to put things. I cook and bake so much, I like to have things in convenient places.

Anyhow, I can't keep my eyes open anymore!  Thanks for all the thoughts, prayers, and encouraging messages!!
